Tunis in 48 hours: medina, Carthage and Sidi Bou Saïd from the airport
The capital is twenty minutes from its own airport — and half of what you came to see lies along the coast road. A weekend blueprint.
Tunis is one of the few capitals where the airport is genuinely close: Tunis–Carthage sits inside the city, about twenty minutes from downtown hotels and the Berges du Lac business district in normal traffic.
Day one: the medina and the Bardo
The UNESCO-listed medina rewards a slow morning — souks, Zitouna mosque, rooftop cafés. In the afternoon, the Bardo’s Roman mosaics are the finest collection in the Mediterranean.
Carthage, Sidi Bou Saïd and La Marsa line up along one coastal road — perfect for a private driver day.
Day two: the coast road
Start at the Carthage ruins and the Antonine baths, continue to the blue-and-white lanes of Sidi Bou Saïd, and finish with dinner in La Marsa or Gammarth. With one driver for the day, the sequence takes care of itself.
