Hammamet: getting there from the airport, and what to expect
Two airports serve Hammamet — and choosing the right one changes your first hour of holiday. A practical guide to arrivals, Yasmine and the medina.
Hammamet is Tunisia’s classic seaside resort: a whitewashed medina, kilometres of sandy beach, and the purpose-built marina district of Yasmine Hammamet to the south. Most visitors arrive through one of two airports, and the choice matters.
Enfidha or Tunis–Carthage?
Enfidha–Hammamet (NBE) is the charter airport, about 45 minutes from the hotel zone. Tunis–Carthage (TUN) serves the scheduled airlines and sits about an hour further north. Both are simple, fixed-price private transfer routes — agreed per vehicle before you fly, luggage and tolls included.
From Enfidha you can be at your hotel in Yasmine before your suitcase would have cleared some airport taxi queues.
Where you will actually stay
Yasmine Hammamet holds the big resorts, the marina and the casino; Hammamet Nord is closer to the medina and the older hotels among orange groves. Tell your driver the hotel name — door-to-door means the entrance, not a drop-off point.
Out of season, Hammamet is quieter but far from closed: the medina, Roman Pupput and day trips to Nabeul’s Friday market all work year-round, and transfer times drop with the traffic.
